Healthy Eats at the Happiest Place

Disneyland Healthy Food Review

No one wants to feel sluggish or stuffed while making magical memories.

That’s why I’m on a mission to show you that you don’t have to compromise on your health—even at Disneyland!

From plant-based burgers to protein-packed snacks, join me as I try to uncover the best healthy food options across the park. Whether you’re fueling up for Space Mountain or strolling through Main Street, I've got you covered with meals that keep you feeling light, energized, and ready for the fun.t

However, I will say that it is always a learning process and you will see that I learned a few things that I would change for next time.

Follow along for tips, bites, and a sprinkle of pixie dust as we explore healthy eats at Disneyland!

Take note: I was a little disappointed that Disneyland was not more forthcoming about the nutritional value and ingredients in the food items. It was very hard to find any info so I generally try to take my own snacks and food because you never know how things are prepared and what is added. With that being said, my focus for this review was minimally processed, hopefully no added sugar, protein and fiber to keep the steps going.

I did try reaching out to Disney about the ingredients and the email below is what I received, so if you have allergies or health concerns please be aware and be prepared with extra snacks just in case.

Black Tap.jpg

Black Tap favorite in Downtown Disney!

Meal Components:

  • Black Bean Burger (with lettuce, tomato, ½ avocado, and onion)

  • Sweet Potato Fries (1 cup)

Nutritional Information (Approximate total for the Meal):

  • Calories: 520

  • Fat: 28.2 g

  • Saturated Fat: 4 g

  • Total Carbohydrates: 54 g

  • Fiber: 15.5 g

  • Protein: 14 g

This plant-based option is fiber-rich, packed with healthy fats from avocado, and a flavorful choice to fuel your day!

My review: The burger was really good and my sister and I split the fries and didn't eat them all. I always opt to add avocado for healthy fat, which also helps me stay full. I also never get a bun since most buns are full of added sugar, preservatives, and refined flour. Top it all off with sparkling water and this is a great start to any magical trip!

Make it meet your needs: If you are trying to watch calories or carbohydrates then you could always ask for no fries or even try the Black Bean Burger Salad.

Minnie and Friends Breakfast

Menu Items:

  1. Omelette with Spinach, Onion, and Tomato

    • Ingredients: 2 eggs, ¼ cup spinach, ¼ cup onion, ¼ cup tomato

  2. Oatmeal

    • Ingredients: 1 cup cooked oatmeal, 1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds, cinnamon

  3. Mixed Fruit

    • Ingredients: ½ cup seasonal mixed fruit

Nutritional Information (Approximate total for the Meal):

  • Calories: 355

  • Fat: 15.2 g

  • Saturated Fat: 3.8 g

  • Total Carbohydrates: 40 g

  • Fiber: 6 g

  • Protein: 18.5 g

This balanced meal is packed with protein, healthy fats, and fiber to keep you energized and satisfied during your Disneyland adventures!

My review: This is definitely more of an experience than it is fine dining. The magic of having kids see the Disney characters is worth every penny!

I love that they have an omelet station where you can customize your omelet and the chef was very engaging. The omelet didn't really seem to fill me up that much, even though I added veggies. I love me some breakfast potatoes but I didn't eat the potatoes because they definitely had some sort of seasoning (which usually means added sugar) and looked like they were just frozen and heated.

So, I went back and got fruit and oatmeal. MAJOR BONUS for the pumpkin seeds and cinnamon!!! Such a nice touch that added more healthy fats and protein. However, even with the cinnamon the oatmeal didn't have much flavor.

Would I do it again? Of course!! But just know it's more for the experience than for the food.

Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante

Menu Items:

  1. 3 Chicken Street Tacos

    • Corn Tortillas, Chicken, Onion, Salsa

  2. Refried Beans

  3. Chips and Guacamole

Nutritional Information (Approximate total for the Meal):

  • Calories: ~850 kcal

  • Protein: ~35g

  • Carbohydrates: ~84g

  • Fat: ~34g

  • Fiber: ~14g

Packed with protein and fiber to keep you going and fueled so the magic can continue. Great option to share with someone.

My review: Love me some tacos! These are great and very feeling. My dad and I should have shared! We did share the beans, chips,  and guacamole since they have such generous servings. This restaurant is always a stop for me. I use to get their taco salad but it is no longer on the menu :( The nutritional content is for the whole plate pictured but I only ate 1 1/2 tacos, 1/2 the beans, 1/2 the guacamole and 1/2 the chips.

Make it meet your needs: You could always opt out of the chips to save on calories, saturated fats, and carbohydrates.

Turkey Leg (approx. 1.5 lb smoked turkey leg)

Nutritional Information (Approximate Total):

  • Calories: 1,093 kcal

  • Total Fat: 54 g

    • Saturated Fat: 15 g

  • Total Carbohydrates: 0 g

    • Fiber: 0 g

  • Protein: 50 g

  • Sodium: ~5,284 mg

While the Turkey Leg delivers serious protein and is undeniably fun and filling, it’s also a meal-sized indulgence. It highly exceeds saturated fat and sodium recommendations in one sitting. Best shared or enjoyed occasionally as a splurge! Which is exactly what I did. My dad and I shared the turkey leg and still didn't finish it.

I added an apple to give some carbohydrates and fiber.

My review: I'm going to be honest and just say that I was always a little creeped out by these but they are a great low carbohydrate option for people. Although it was good, I was surprised by how much sodium it had so I think a better low carbohydrate option might be the Grilled Achiote-marinated Half Chicken from Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante. That will be on my next review! Overall, I think many people would enjoy this but just beware that it's best shared and may not be the best option if you are watching your sodium or total fat.

Bengal Barbeque

Menu Items:

  • Vegetable Skewer

    • Grilled mixed veggies (onion, eggplant, bell pepper, zucchini)

  • Hummus Trio with mixed veggies

    • Mixed veggies (broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber)

    • Cilantro hummus

    • Red pepper hummus

    • Black bean hummus

Nutritional Information (Approximate Total):

  • Calories: 280

  • Fat: 13.5 g

    • Saturated Fat: 1.5 g

  • Total Carbohydrates: 35 g

    • Fiber: 10 g

  • Protein: 10 g

This veggie-packed option is rich in fiber, offering a satisfying crunch and creamy dips without overloading on calories or unhealthy fats—a flavorful and nutritious choice for your Disneyland day!

My review: I loved this meal, especially after indulging on the turkey leg, for it's simplicity and veggie packed bonus. I'm not a huge fan of salads, as they don't usually seem to fill me up and often they are loaded with sugar-laden dressings. This meal is a great vegetarian option, but it's also delicious and filling.
